1st Thematic Unit

The thematic unit "Background Courses I" aims to create the necessary knowledge background for business executives that cover the range of financial, administrative and development strategy of the operation of the company. The development of the material of the first thematic unit combines the theory with examples and the study of real cases(or case studies)  and applications. The topic section briefly includes the following subjects:

The content of this section has as its starting point the examination of issues concerning business management strategies for their development (subsection "of Management of Organizations Theory and Practice"). This course presents the main tools of financial analysis of the management of companies and organizations and presents their practical applications. The following items are covered:

  1. Three basic principles of Financial Management
  2. Analysis of Internal & External Business Environment

Following the subsection "Business History" aims to create knowledge about how the institution of business has evolved over time (1500-2016) in the global economy. Highlights are placed on the structure and strategy of the institution and how they reflect and at the same time determine changes in the wider economy. This section is particularly useful for business executives and people interested in doing business in Greece in the modern world. The following items are covered:

  1. Introduction: Thematic and methodological issues in the world history of business.
  2. The evolution and organization of business activity during the trade revolution and mercantilism.
  3. The evolution and organization of the company in the first industrial Revolution.
  4. The rise of large-scale enterprises and the second industrial revolution.
  5. The consolidation of multinational company and managerial capitalism.
  6. The deconstruction of the multinational company and the new forms of business organization that emerge with the third and fourth industrial revolution.
  7. The Greek company from a transnational point of view: 18th-21st c.
  8. Selected case studies: assignment
  9. Epilogue. Conclusions and dialogue with theory

Finally, in the subsection "Human Resource Management" a study of the concepts, content and current developments of the Strategic Human Resource Management will be carried out. The following items are covered:
